The Astrology of Killers

Now I’m sure some people might’ve read the name of this article and rolled their eyes, but just hear me out on this. Before we get started, I just want to say that I’m in no way an expert astrologer and I don’t know everything about the topic. I’m not asking you to believe in or understand astrology, but I think I’ve found a connection between the astrological signs of killers. Of course, I’m not the first person to think of this (check out this post here), but I haven’t seen many people analyzing why many killers share an astrological sign and the astrological concept that they have in common with each other. Today I’m going to break down for you the four main zodiac signs that many killers have and how they are connected. And ironically, the Zodiac Killer’s nowhere in here.

As a Virgo, I was a little concerned yet entertained to see so many Virgos on this list. Virgos are born between August 23rd and September 22nd. People with this sign tend to be organized, analytical, hardworking, and creative. We also tend to be overly critical, uptight perfectionists. Some famous killers who are Virgos are:

• Ed Gein (killed 2)
• Albert DeSalvo (“The Boston Strangler; killed 13)
• Richard Angelo (“The Angel of Death”; killed 8)
• Henry Lee Lucas (killed 11)
• Gerald Stano (killed 22)
• Marybeth Tinning (killed 8)
• Richard Biegenwald (killed 6-8)

Geminis are born between May 21st and June 20th. They tend to get a bad rap because many stereotype them to be “two-faced.” Geminis tend to be social, intelligent, and adventurous. They can also be impulsive, unreliable, and flighty. Some famous killers who are Geminis are:

• Jeffrey Dahmer (killed 17)
• Devid Berkowitz (“Son of Sam; killed 6)
• Kenneth Bianchi (“The Hillside Strangler; killed 12)
• Danny Rolling (“The Gainesville Ripper; killed 8)

Pisceans are born between February 19th and March 20th. Pisceans are creative, compassionate, and intuitive. They can also be overly emotional, moody, and closed off. They often feel the need to escape. Some famous killers who are Pisces are:

• Charles Cullen (killed 29)
• Richard Ramirez (“The Night Stalker; killed 15)
• Aileen Wuornos (killed 7)
• Dennis Rader (“BTK”; killed 10)

Finally, Sagittarians are born between November 22nd and December 21st. Sagittarians can be extroverted, ambitious, and optimistic. They can also be impatient, inconsistent, and careless. Some famous killers who are Sagittarians are:

• Ted Bundy (killed 30)
• Lary Eyler (“The Interstate Killer”; killed 21-24)
• Alton Coleman (8)
• Thierry Paulin (“The Monster of Montmartre; killed 18)
• Timothy Krajcir (killed 9-14)
• Billy Chemirir (killed 18)
• Jose Antonio Rodrigeuz Vega (“The Old Lady Killer”; killed 18)

While there are obviously killers from all 12 astrological signs, these four have been popularized as being the signs with the most killers. You may be wondering what exactly these signs have in common. Well, I’ll tell you right now!

You may know that the zodiac signs are associated with the four elements (ex: Virgo is an earth sign, Gemini and Pisces are air signs, and Sagittarius is a fire sign). A lesser-known association of the zodiac signs is their modalities. Unlike the elements, there are only three modalities: Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. According to astrologers, the modalities represent the expression of each of the four elements. In other words, they represent how you approach life. 

Virgo, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Pisces are all mutable signs. You still may be wondering what this all means. The mutable signs represent the end of a season (Virgo being the end of summer, Geminis being the end of spring, Pisces being the end of winter, and Sagittarius being the end of fall). Since the ends of seasons represent a time of preparation and change, a major quality of the mutable signs is the tendency to change and adapt. This article by Liveabout.com says that these signs are “adaptable chameleon[s], which means that you can shift into many different forms and take on different personas.” 

Does this sound familiar to you? If you know anything about killers, it should. There are many instances where a killer lives a normal everyday life. They can be the friendly neighbor next door with a loving family, but at the same time, they can be brutal murderers and you’d never know until you see their face on the news. Something I found particularly about the Gemini murders is how they have alternate names. Many killers have defining nicknames, but most of the Geminis listed above have more nicknames in comparison to the other signs. This fits in with the idea of the mutable signs taking different personas. 

I’m not trying to say that people with mutable signs are more likely to kill people than others, but I think it’s interesting that many killers fall into the signs of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, and Sagittarius. Not every person is the same and not every person falls into the general descriptives of their signs. However, I think it’s fun to look at things from new perspectives, and for many people, this astrological perspective might be something they haven’t heard of before.
